NFPA 1035: Standard on Fire and Life Safety Educator, Public Information Officer, Youth Firesetter Intervention Specialist and Youth Firesetter Program Manager Professional Qualifications identifies the minimum job performance requirements (JPRs) for those individuals who interact with the general public for the purpose of:
- Reducing the numbers and severity of fires in the community
- Reducing the numbers and severity of fire-related injuries in the community

- Tools, equipment, or materials that are to be provided to complete the task
- Evaluation and performance outcomes

Details:
This course covers the general requisite knowledge and skills for the experienced Fire and Life Safety Educator to meet the JPRs for a managerial level position in the field of Fire and Life Safety Education, e.g., developing a community risk reduction program, managing a FLSE program budget, procuring funding for FLSE programs, etc. The material for this course is delivered 100% online and topics covered include:
General Requisite Knowledge for:
Current organizational policy, procedures, and guidelines; identifying grant funding sources and alternative funding sources; and system delivery for fire and life safety education.
General Requisite Skills for:
Creating and leading a community risk reduction program; coordinating and collaborating within the organization and with external partners; analyzing data to develop short-term and long-term plans, write grant proposals, and write reports.
Prerequisite:
Completion of Fire and Life Safety Educator II
Accredited Certification Level:
This course meets the Fire and Life Safety Educator III (FLSE III) Job Performance Requirements (JPRs) as defined in Sections 6.1 through 6.5 of NFPA 1035.
Successful course completion qualifies student to take Fire and Life Safety Educator Level III certification exam. You are required to take your Champions Fire College Certificate of Course Completion and complete a certification exam and skills evaluation as provided by Champions Fire College in accordance with the requirements of your province or state.
